I received one of those mass mailing e-mails at work today and found a picture of the cutest little puppies with the following statement: “Dogs have lots of friends because they wag their tails instead of their tongues.” What a charming way to emphasize the importance in the words we say. Proverbs 18:21 says “Death and Life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” In the beginning of time God said “Let there be light and there was light.” He continued to speak the universe into existence and said man was created in His image therefore wouldn’t our words also be powerful tools? Words are something we tend to take rather lightly most of the time not realizing the impact they are having on ourselves and those around us. Robert Stearns in a YouTube video on Worship and Sounds states, “There is a physical theory that once sound is uttered its eternal, its waves may decrease to a place of not being able to hear but it’s still out there. With that in mind we’re either creating a positive atmosphere of life releasing blessings on ourselves or on the contrary an atmosphere of negativity and death bringing curses upon ourselves. Even pagans understand the power of words and vibrations used in ritual or spells to bring about change in the astral plane. Consider what effect Godly words of life and love would have being released in time and space. How awesome the sound of our worship echoing through eternity. Proverbs 10:11—“The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life . . . ;”
