Truth is… we all can be found there. Throughout our spiritual journey we may have stood in different places from shouting “crucify him” to “I never knew him”, but hopefully we will finally come to the conclusion as the guard did and utter the same words “this truly was the son of God.” Another stunning cry from the crowd as Pilate washed his own hands of innocent blood was “His blood be on us, and on our children!” (Matt: 27:25) What a condemning cry from mankind yet even that God turned for His glory as His blood bought our salvation. It amazes me to think the innocent lamb being led to the slaughter, could have at any time taken his authority as king and instead became the lion that rightfully devoured the entire human race. In John 10:18 Jesus says, “No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.” This moving song ends with the son confessing the lamb had run away and the father responds ‘watch the lamb.” While the song ends there, the story goes beyond the cross. Behold the lamb who takes away the sins of the world has risen and is enthroned in heaven. Watch for The Lamb of Revelation's return.
