It was the Harvest moon that provided light for the farmers to gather their remaining crops. It also is symbolic for the harvest time to gather the people ripe for the Lord. Scripture tells us the harvest is plenty but the laborers are few. (Luke 10:2) So many need to hear the good news of Jesus’ love so they can receive salvation. God’s desire is that all would be saved and once again the harvest is upon us… where are His laborers?
We go about our business taking care of our earthly vessels… there is so much to get done and a day is never enough. At the end of the night we’ve put off our greatest job… the harvest of men. We promise ourselves that tomorrow is another day and surely we’ll squeeze it in between our busy schedules. The sun rises and our hunter-gather instinct kicks in but by the end of the evening we’ve gathered everything except lost souls. Tarry not for scripture reveals the day is coming when the moon will turn to blood and the wrath of God is upon us. On that day the stars will fall from the heavens and the earth will quake… men will run to caves in attempt to take cover.
Far better it will be to see the harvest of souls gathered before the throne knowing that we have done our part and hearing our Father proclaim… well done good and faithful servant.
