It’s easy to look around us and realize that America, once the strong nation under God, is declining at a rapid pace in so many ways as it succumbs to an anti-God agenda. My thoughts go to Sodom and Gomorrah when Abraham asked God to spare the city if only 10 righteous men could be found. Are we not in a similar time in our own nation? Only by the grace of God who may turn His ear towards the cry of His children, praying for mercy and to spare our country, will our nation be spared from impending disaster... “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” – 2 Chronicles 7:14
While challenging times lie ahead for our county, and things that we never imaged have already taken place on U.S. soil, I believe I received a word of caution from the Holy Spirit concerning end-time prophesies, “Look to Israel.” While the whole earth, including America will certainly be affected by the end-times, the scripture reveals that we are to be “watchmen on the wall” for events unfolding in “Israel”, not in America. When Jesus was born, the Magi (or wisemen) who had knowledge of the significance of prophesy in scripture did something imperative… they left their homeland in search for the King. They knew, to look beyond their own backyard and set their sights towards the place the prophecy would be fulfilled… Israel and so should we. In Hosea 4:6 we read, "My people perish for lack of knowledge." One thing that has always amazed me was that the pagan magi were watching, seeking and came to worship the Jewish king, while the Jews missed His birth entirely. Yet regretfully, how many Christians will miss the signs of the second coming? The Lord seeks wise disciples like the sons of Issachar, (1 Chronicles 12:32) who had the ability to interpret the scriptures, understood the times and being they were Old Testament astronomers and scholars, they kept track of time and seasons, so they knew what Israel was to do. Another commonly overlooked fact was that they understood the blessing of unity. We too would be wise to cast off the sin of division and unite as one body. They were united in spirit, willing to take action fueled by their faith.
